Why outdoor fitness for hotels & resorts?

Health-conscious travellers increasingly expect fitness options — but a fully equipped indoor gym is expensive to build, climate-control and staff. An outdoor fitness park delivers a premium wellness amenity in the fresh air, without any of those running costs.

A compact, photogenic installation in the garden, by the pool or in a courtyard becomes a genuine point of difference in listings and reviews — and a backdrop guests happily share on social media.

Who benefits?

Leisure and wellness guests who want to keep training on holiday
Business travellers looking for a quick, effective workout
Active families and groups sharing one installation
Yoga, stretching and group-fitness classes run by the property

Space & requirements

The compact hexagon footprint fits into existing gardens, poolside areas or courtyards without sacrificing usable grounds — 8–12 guests can train on a single spot.

Where the installation is freely accessible to guests it is built to DIN EN 16630, with a certified acceptance inspection before opening and routine visual and annual functional checks thereafter.

Typical use cases

A signature “outdoor gym” amenity promoted in your listings
Guided morning workouts, yoga or stretching sessions
A wellness- or active-holiday package differentiator
A social, photo-worthy focal point in the garden or by the pool

Cost factors

A BARbara installation costs around €15,000, fully ready to use including groundwork and installation — a fraction of the cost of building and running an indoor gym.

Running costs are minimal: no electricity, no heating, no consumables and no staffing. For a business, the investment is generally tax-deductible as a business expense.

Frequently asked questions

How much space does an installation need?+

Very little. The hexagon (honeycomb) design is deliberately compact — 8 to 12 people can train on a single spot — so it fits into an existing garden, poolside area or courtyard without losing usable grounds.

What are the running costs?+

Minimal. There is no electricity, no heating, no consumables and no staffing requirement. Apart from routine safety checks, there is very little operating effort, 365 days a year.

Do guests need instructions?+

No supervision is needed. Every information board carries a QR code linking to four training levels — Beginner, Advanced, Ü50 and Pro — with video guidance, so guests of any ability can train on their own.

Is it safe and weatherproof?+

Yes. Stations are built from high-grade steel in three variants (hot-dip galvanised, powder-coated or stainless steel V2A) with hidden, vandal-proof bolts, and are built to the DIN EN 16630 outdoor-fitness standard.

Is the investment tax-deductible?+

For a hotel or resort the installation is generally treatable as a tax-deductible business expense. Your tax advisor can confirm the exact treatment for your business.
