FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know about BARbara outdoor fitness systems — from training and materials to safety, pricing and funding.
Product & Training
What is BARbara?+
BARbara is our flagship outdoor fitness system — a hexagonal calisthenics rig that combines multiple training stations into one compact, community-focused unit. It offers a complete bodyweight gym on roughly 15 m² and supports more than 200 exercises.
How many people can train on it at the same time?+
BARbara is designed for 8 to 12 people training simultaneously across its six exercise fields, making it ideal for group training, clubs and busy public spaces.
Are there exercise instructions?+
Yes. Every installation has a QR code that opens a guided exercise library with four training levels — Beginner, Advanced, 50+ and Pro — so users of every ability know exactly how to train safely.
Who is it suitable for?+
Everyone. From first-time beginners to competitive athletes, and from teenagers to seniors. The four training levels and inclusive layout make it usable across all generations and fitness levels.
What material options are available?+
Three variants: hot-dip galvanised steel, galvanised steel with powder coating (in your chosen colour), and stainless steel (V2A) for the highest durability and premium appearance.
Space, Safety & Installation
How much space does BARbara need?+
The hexagonal system needs a footprint of roughly 15 m², plus a safety zone around it as required by the applicable standards. Its compact design fits tight urban and campus sites where conventional gyms would not.
Which safety standard does the equipment follow?+
BARbara is built to DIN EN 16630, the European standard for permanently installed outdoor fitness equipment, covering structural safety, materials and user protection.
Does it need maintenance?+
Very little. The steel construction is built for permanent outdoor use in all weather and is low-maintenance — no moving wear parts and corrosion-protected materials. As with any public installation, the operator should carry out regular visual checks and an annual functional inspection.
Do you install nationwide?+
Yes. We plan and deliver projects across Germany. Reference installations include the inclusive sport area in Neinstedt and the municipal calisthenics park in Lutherstadt Wittenberg.
Pricing & Funding
How much does an outdoor fitness park cost?+
A BARbara system costs around €15,000 — fully ready to use, including groundwork and installation. See our pricing page for the full breakdown.
Can the project be funded through grants?+
Often, yes. Municipal budgets, sports-development programmes and regional funding sources are frequently used for outdoor fitness projects — the inclusive sport area in Neinstedt, for example, was realised with support from Lotto Sachsen-Anhalt. We are happy to point you toward suitable funding avenues for your project.
Is the steel recyclable?+
Yes. BARbara is made from 100% recyclable steel, supporting sustainable, long-life public infrastructure.
Company & Ordering
Where is BARbara manufactured?+
BARbara is engineered and manufactured in Dessau, Germany, born out of the calisthenics club GhettoWorkout e.V. — built by athletes, for athletes.
