Outdoor fitness equipment lives outside for decades, used hard and exposed to rain, UV, frost and road salt. The material and coating are what determine whether it still looks and performs well after fifteen winters.

The three variants

BARbara is offered in three material variants, each with a clear rationale:

VariantBest forCharacter
Hot-dip galvanizedBest value, public spacesRobust steel, galvanized like road signs — decades of weather resistance
Galvanized + powder-coatedDesign-led projectsSame durability, plus a custom colour (club, city or park palette)
Stainless steel V2AHarsh environments, premium sitesFully weather-resistant and highly vandalism-resistant

Hot-dip galvanizing: the value workhorse

Hot-dip galvanizing coats the steel in zinc — the same protection used on traffic-sign posts. It withstands weather for decades and is the most cost-effective route to a genuinely durable public installation. For most municipal and club projects, it is the sensible default.

Powder coating: durability plus identity

When a project wants colour — club colours, a city palette, a design concept for the park — a powder coat is applied on top of the galvanizing. You keep the corrosion protection and gain visual identity. It is the choice for design-led public space.

Stainless steel V2A: the premium tier

In the harshest settings — coastal salt air, heavy-use urban sites, or where maximum vandalism resistance is wanted — stainless steel V2A is the premium answer. It is fully weather-resistant and extremely tough.

Beyond the alloy: how it is built

Material is only half the story; construction is the other half. BARbara's bolts are recessed rather than exposed, so they cannot simply be unscrewed. Once foundationed, the structure is immovable by hand — in the manufacturer's words, "you could drive a truck into it and it won't fall over." The hexagon geometry distributes force and adds to the resistance. And with no moving parts, there is simply less to corrode, wear or break.
